For the first time in its history, the Ford Escape is offered as a plug-in hybrid. It's been around since the summer, but distribution promises to accelerate over the next few weeks, so you'll be seeing it everywhere very soon.
And for good reason, because there are many advantages to this vehicle, both in terms of logic and when compared to its rivals.
Enjoyment
First of all, let's deal with one of the most important things; driving the vehicle. While the rivals do well, we're talking about the Toyota RAV4 Prime and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the Ford Escape does even better. This SUV is built on a chassis that benefits from intelligent settings, which are perfectly adapted to a comfortable yet sporty ride. In fact, firmness and suppleness are very well matched here.
And when it comes to power, with 220 horsepower, complaints are futile; the Escape PHEV has nothing to be ashamed of.
Range that lets you breathe
The magic of a vehicle with electric range is that it allows us to operate without the aid of a gasoline engine. However, if there isn't enough capacity, the internal combustion engine will work most of the time.
However, with the Escape PHEV, this problem is solved, because by offering 60 km in electric mode, it allows us to breathe. Commuting to and from work, running errands during the day, picking up the kids, all can easily be done without using a drop of gas during the day.
And even if the gasoline engine has to take over occasionally, you're still looking at minimal fuel consumption of 2 liters or less per 100 kilometers at the pump.
Cheaper
Finally, the other big advantage with the Ford Escape PHEV is the price. Basically, it's about $8,000 less than its biggest rival, the Toyota RAV4 Prime. That's starting to make quite a difference on the wallet, especially since both vehicles are doing similarly in terms of range and fuel economy.
Really, in all respects, the Ford Escape PHEV is a more than interesting and logical purchase for consumers.
