2021 Ford F-150 vs. 2021 Ram 1500: Choose Power and Efficiency

2021 Ford F-150 vs. 2021 Ram 1500: Choose Power and Efficiency

The new Ford F-150 had every rival scrambling for ideas this year as Ford gave this best-selling vehicle unprecedented technologies, innovations and powertrains that will without a doubt set the standard once again in the segment and beyond. The Ford F-150 is now available with a series of engines that include powerful hybrid options that go beyond horsepower and torque.

Here, we compare the 2021 Ford F-150 with the 2021 Ram 1500.

More choices and more performance under the hood of the 2021 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is taking the lead in terms of engine technology and innovations for 2021. Many engines are offered, starting with the 3.3-litre V6 that outputs 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, followed by the 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 engine that boasts 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of turbocharged performance.

The trusty 400 hp 5.0-litre V8 is always a great choice, and so it’s the 3.0 litre PowerStroke diesel with 440 lb-ft of torque on tap. Let’s not forget the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 with 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque that gives the F-150 a segment-leading 14,000 pounds of towing capacity.

But the hybrid technology developed at Ford brings the F-150 to new levels thanks to PowerBoost V6 that outputs an unprecedented 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Not only does this powertrain deliver the most torque ever in an F-150, its standard Pro Power Onboard brings unmatched exportable power, 2.4 kilowatts of standard power and an available 7.2 kilowatts – enough to power 28 average refrigerators.

The Ram 1500 offers a series of outdated engines ranging from V6 to V8 powerplants and an expensive diesel option. It does have some sort of hybrid technology (eTorque), but it doesn’t compete with the F-150’s hybrid engine in terms of power and doesn’t offer the same exportable power capacity as the F-150.

Also, the maximum towing capacity rating on the Ram 1500 is limited to 12,750 pounds.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is your work partner on the road

The F-150 includes new technologies worth mentioning, like the new optional Interior Work Surface with stowable shifter unit to help you get work done in the cabin, as well as the Class-exclusive Max Recline Seats available that fold flat to nearly 180 degrees for maximum comfort.
