Modern vehicles are all loaded with safety systems that have only one goal: to keep you as safe as possible, or even to avoid any collision that has the potential to cause injury.
Airbags are everywhere in new vehicles. However, safety goes beyond that, and at Ford, we've never skimped on that, making our lineup of vehicles among the safest in the industry.
This is made possible by the Ford Co-Pilot 360 safety suite, which brings together a host of features that serve multiple purposes; helping you, reacting for you, informing you, taking control for you, all to provide you with optimal safety.
Let's take a look at the main functions of the system by describing them very briefly.
Blue Cruise
Here's a glimpse of the future, a function that allows you to leave the vehicle in control on just over 200,000 km of North American highways. Autonomous driving, according to Ford. Beware, however, that a camera is always watching you; you need to keep your eyes on the road.
Blind spot and rear cross traffic alerts
A dual-function device that always works for you. It monitors what's happening in your blind spots and warns you when a vehicle is in them. It does the same when reversing, identifying potential hazards. In the event of an impending collision in reverse, it can even brake the vehicle for you.
Lane Keeping Assist
Have you ever been tired or distracted while driving? It happens to the best of us. With this feature on, you'll feel more confident driving because you'll be warned if you're veering off course thanks to lane monitoring. And if the system notices that you're a little too tired, it displays a graphic of a cup of coffee on the dashboard. The message couldn't be clearer.
Pre-collision with emergency braking
You may have the best reflexes in the world, but when traffic suddenly stops in front of you, or a pedestrian appears out of nowhere, the danger is real. Thanks to this system, we are warned of the situation and if we don't react quickly enough, the vehicle will do it for us. Reassuring!
Adaptive Cruise Control
Cruise control is a wonderful invention, but when traffic is heavy, you have to constantly turn it off and on. With adaptive cruise control, it adjusts and slows down and restarts as needed. It can even come to a complete stop and go. And with traffic sign recognition, it can even adjust the vehicle's speed accordingly. Best of all, the lane tracking system keeps your Ford in line. It's magical.
Active Park Assist 2.0
Parking may seem like a simple task, but for some it's more complex. With this feature, parallel parking, or perpendicular parking backwards, is no longer a secret. In fact, your vehicle does it itself; all you have to do is control the speed with the brake. It's even very useful for expert drivers when visibility is zero, like on a rainy night for example.
Automatic low beams
At night, on poorly lit roads, you have to constantly turn your low beams on and off. With the automatic function, it says it all, you don't have to worry about it. When a vehicle is encountered, they turn on. When it passes, they return to normal. Meanwhile, you focus on the most important thing: driving.
Other features of the Ford Co-Pilot 360 System include a rearview camera, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and Hill Descent Control. More features will be added over time, because at Ford, safety is a priority.
