Our First Look at the New 2024 Ford F-150

Ford has recently unveiled a significantly revised version of the F-150, the most popular pickup truck in Canada, for the 2024 model year. Here are additional details to know about it.

A modernised design

The 2024 Ford F-150 features a revised version of the traditional Ford truck design, keeping a familiar face while at the same time looking distinctly more modern than last year’s model. This begins with a wider grille that encompasses the headlamps, which have also been reworked to feature horizontal and vertical LED elements in some models that form a bracket shape for the daytime running lamps when combined with the fog lamps. LED taillamps are also completely new, and so are many of the interior’s details, such as a standard 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. It is no surprise that the new F-150 is the most connected Ford truck ever, with the latest version of the Sync 4 infotainment system, which features over-the-air update capabilities, and the new Stolen Vehicle Services set of technologies designed to help Ford owners recover their stolen pickup.

Innovations that can be put to work

Ford knows that many F-150 buyers use their truck as a work tool, which is why it has engineered many useful features into the 2024 F-150’s bed and cargo area. To begin with, the available Pro Access Tailgate is divided in three sections and can be opened in two ways in order to facilitate loading or access. Of course, this tailgate can be opened in the traditional manner, but it can also function as a door. Indeed, the center section of the tailgate can swing out from left to right in order to provide direct access to the cargo bed. Combined with a revised rear bumper that acts as a step, this makes climbing into the bed of the F-150 easier than ever. Once in the bed, drivers will find the connections for the available ProPower Onboard system, which allows the F-150 to power all sorts of electrical equipment, even on regular gasoline-powered trucks. Unsurprisingly, PowerBoost hybrid models benefit from more powerful inverter options that can power a house during a black out or even an entire framing crew for up to 32 hours.

A new base engine and more hybrid trucks

The 2024 Ford F-150 benefits from a new standard engine as the previously optional 2,7L EcoBoost V6 is now included on the entry-level model, thus increasing the base power output significantly. Along with the familiar 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 engines offered in standard F-150 pickups, the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid is back, and Ford aims to double its production in 2024 by pricing it identically to the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. In addition to obvious gas savings and the availability of high-powered ProPower Onboard options, choosing the hybrid F-150 also gives access to an impressive output of 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, more than any other F-150 except for the Raptor models.
